Linda Zaunbrecher

The 2015 Louisiana Cattle Festival Grand Parade is being dedicated to Linda G. Zaunbrecher.  She was born on December 26, 1940 and has been a resident of Gueydan, LA her entire life.  She is a 1958 graduate of Gueydan High School and attended S.L.I. (now ULL).  She was married to Wayne N. Zaunbrecher, since November 5, 1960 until his death on June 17, 2015.

Zaunbrecher is the mother of three, Dwayne Anthony Zaunbrecher, who died July 19, 1989, Allison Z. Domingues, wife of Dewey and mother of Tyler, married to Brooke, parents of Lily and Rosie; Philip married to Chelsie; Samuel, Community College student, and Matthew, student of Erath High School; Andrea Z. Herpin, wife of Chris and mother of Tori, married to Walker McDonald, parents of William, Michaela, student of McNeese State University, and Ridge, student of Kaplan High School.

Linda is a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Gueydan where she is a strong pillar in the community and proves to be a soldier of Christ daily.  She is a member of the Catholic Daughters of American and prays the rosary every Monday morning with the rosary group “For the Love of God Worldwide”.

Zaunbrecher has devoted her life to God, family and agriculture.  She has recently retired as the 3rd Vice-President of Louisiana Farm Bureau, having served since 1990.  She served as the Louisiana Farm Bureau Women’s Committee Chair from 1983 through 1990 and was Louisiana Farm Bureau District Director from 1973 through 1983.  On the parish level, Zaunbrecher is a member of the Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau Board of Directors and has also served as the Women’s Chair.  She also serves on the La. Farm Bureau Coastal Issues Advisory Committee and the Rice Advisory Committee.

In an effort to give back to the community and youth of the parish, Zaunbrecher and her family created the Dwayne Anthony Zaunbrecher Memorial Scholarship Fund for a deserving high school senior majoring in agriculture.  The Zaunbrecher’s are also long time supporters of the LSU AgCenter and 4-H youth activities including the Vermilion Parish Livestock Show and Sale.

Linda also serves on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation and the Water Resources Commission.  She is also a member of the USA Rice Federation Board of Directors.

It is evident that Linda Zaunbrecher has devoted her life to agriculture and is most deserving of the honor of the 2015 Louisiana Cattle Festival Grand Parade being dedicated to her.
