Morgan Landry is the 22 year old daughter of Miranda Landry and a native of New Iberia. A 2023 graduate of Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Landry aspires to become a Physician's Assistant and currently works in the medical field. In her free time, Morgan enjoys music, being outdoors, and quality time with friends. This is her fourth time serving as a representative for the Louisiana Cattle Festival as she was the 2008 Petite, 2013 Junior and 2017 Teen Cattle Queen. Landry is eager to use her knowledge of previous years with the festival to help in making this year’s event to most “meMOOrable.”
When asked what the Louisiana Cattle Festival meant to her, Landry replied, “I have attended this festival from such a young age, it has become a part of my identity. If you took my phone and called any contact I have, they would all know how much I love cows! Having the privilege of serving as the 74th Louisiana Cattle Festival Queen is an opportunity I have long awaited. To represent this festival, its board, and the City of Abbeville over the next 365 days is a dream come true and I plan to soak in every moment. The cattle industry is so extensive and there are nearly 75 years of celebration backing just how special it is. To me, the Louisiana Cattle Festival has always been, and will ever remain, a place where community thrives and memories are made. I hope to pack Abbeville’s Magdalen Square on October 4-6 and celebrate until the cows come home’.
2024 Louisiana Cattle Festival King, James Edward Arceanux, Jr. of Tensas Parish. Last Fall, the first-generation farmer completed his 50th year as a row crop farmer growing cotton, corn, and soybeans. Arceanux’s farming career started in 1973, and a few years later, in February of 1978, married his late wife, Carolyn Smith Arceneaux. Together they had three children: Becca, Michael, and Emma; their kids gave James his life’s greatest gifts, his grandchildren. His children grew up showing livestock while learning about the cattle industry and the importance of agriculture. He continues that tradition now as he has continued to sponsor local youth with their livestock projects.
While serving as Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association (LCA) President in 2018, Arceanux recruited the newest members in the association’s history. He has served on the board for LCA for numerous years, and has been named LCA Cattleman of the Year as well as Member of the Year. Locally, he has served his district association and district livestock show in various leadership positions including, but not limited to, president and board member. Furthermore, the 2021 Northeast Louisiana District Livestock Show was dedicated to him as well as previously being named volunteer of the year. It is an esteemed honor to recognize Arceneaux and his commitment to the cattle industry and the youth of Louisiana.
